Monday to Saturday there are nearly 300 buses a day that stop at or leave from Morpeth Bus Station.  Some of these buses go to the coast, others as far as London and Edinburgh and lots of them (over 50 a day) go to the Centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Tickets for Arriva buses can be purchased quick and easily by various methods including:

Online - Saver tickets can be purchased in advance online and will either be posted to you or instantly sent to your mobile

Local shop - Saver tickets can be purchased from your nearest epay, PayPoint or Payzone outlet

Mobile - Once you've registered for Arriva's m-ticket service (available online) you can simply buy Saver tickets on your mobile

On the bus - Buy single, return and most Saver tickets with cash from the bus driver…the right change is always greatly appreciated!

Concessionary travel on local buses

Eligible older people,and those of any age with a disability, and resident in England, can obtain a bus pass to enjoy free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England.  In Northumberland the scheme is operated by Northumberland County Council.

Eligible older people means:

  • Anyone born before 6th April 1950 (men and women).
  • If you are a woman born after 5th April 1950 you become eligible when you reach retirement age.
  • If you are a man born after 5th April 1950, you become eligible when you reach the pensionable age of a woman born on the same day.

Companion Pass

If you are unable to travel alone, you can apply for a Companion Pass.  This enables a friend, relation or carer of your choice to travel with you.  You will need certification to show you are unable to travel alone.

If you have lost your concessionary bus pass, you can apply for
a replacement from where you obtained the original pass.  The charge for a
replacement pass is £15.

Passes for Young People

Half price travel on buses and trains using an Under 16 Photocard that costs just £15 if you don't lose it.
